We have some wonderful news to report. We were contacted yesterday by a donor who has issued us a challenge that they will give us $50,000 towards the building project if we will raise an additional $50,000. This $100,000 combined with the $120,000 we have in the bank should provide us with enough money to get started on phase one. Now is a great time to make a tax deductible donation to Potosi VFD and help us raise the $50,000 to meet the matching challenge. Please help us spread this great news and tell your friends about this opportunity to make a difference in YOUR community.
We finally broke $100,000 in donations towards our new fire station!!!
As of March 2015, we have a little over $102,000 in the building fund. We need a total of $160,000 to get phase one in the dry. (Building up and doors in place.) This will not complete phase one but it is the minimum amount of funding we need to be able to break ground and start construction.
Thank you to everyone who came out and met us during our neighborhood block parties this summer. We raised about $10,000 towards the new fire station and got to meet and talk with several members of each neighborhood. Stay on the lookout for more block parties in other parts of the community during spring and summer of 2015. Keep your eyes open for other opportunities to support your Potosi VFD and make this desperate need a reality.
We have a dream
In cooperation with Taylor County, Potosi Volunteer Fire Department now leases a piece of land that will soon become our new fire station. The current plans are for the building to be constructed in two phases each costing roughly $250,000. Phase One will be the apparatus bay that houses all of our apparatus and equipment. Phase Two will be attached to phase one and consist of the "people parts" of the station such as an office, training/conference room, meeting room, bathrooms, and a day room/bunk room. The plans can be viewed in our picture gallery.
Help us make that dream a reality in the following ways...
